Draud sabrukt dambis Dārbišīrā

Intensīvu nokrišņu rezultātā, plūdu ūdeņi izskalojuši pamatni Whaley Bridge dambja pamatni Dārbišīrā (Anglija, Apvienotā Karaliste). Dambja sabrukšanas gadījumā, 1.3 miljoni tonnu ūdens var applūdināt tuvākās apdzīvotās vietas.

Evakuēti 6000 iedzīvotāji un ar militāro helikopteru palīdzību tiek mesti maisi ar smiltīm, lai nostiprinātu izskalojuma vietu.

Thousands of people have been told to leave their homes after heavy rain resulted in severe damage to a dam wall above the Derbyshire town of Whaley Bridge.

Whaley Bridge is almost deserted tonight after the town was evacuated due to fears floodwater could overtop the damaged dam at Toddbrook Reservoir.
